Abruzzi’s territory has a natural predisposition to grape growing, with its location between the sea and the tall inland mountains, with an excellent ventilation and a rainy weather but mild and well sunlit at the same time.
The lands that foster the growth of vine correspond to almost 40 thousand hectares, with an annual production of 4 millions hectolitres.
In the past, Abruzzi’s wines were considered good blending wines. Most recently though, especially the red wine Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, has managed to express its own great potentials, succeeding to find an adequate commercial acknowledgment while gaining a good reputation, thus becoming the symbolic wine of this region.
The second DOC wine of this region, too, the white wine Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, has proved to be a worthy supporting actor of the commercial revival of Abruzzi’s wines, while there are other two DOC wines in this region, the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Cerasuolo and the Controguerra.
