The wine production zones are mainly based in the southern part of the country, mostly in the States of South Australia and New South Wales, and the most cultivated vines are Chardonnay and Sémillon for the white wines and Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah (locally denominated Shiraz) for the red wines.
