Vivacious and sparkling wines in Emilia, and still wines in Romagna: two regions in one, each with its own peculiarities as much in history and culture as in wine production.
The most known Emilian wine is certainly Lambrusco, a natural fermentation sparkling wine, dry or sweet. Other wines of excellent value are also the Gutturnio and Bonarda.
In Romagna instead the most known red wine is the Sangiovese, the first to obtain the DOC title in the whole region, while the Albana di Romagna has been the first white wine in all Italy, in 1987, to obtai the DOCG classification.
International grapevines never truly spread in the region, whose oenology mostly continues to be based on native grapes.
